Classroom News
We have been having a wonderful start to the school year. Everyone has been making some great new friendships and learning many new things about how school works and how to work together. We are just finishing up some beginning of the year assessments to see how much we already know!
In literacy, we are learning our letter names, letter sounds, and some high frequency words (also called sight words). We are learning print concepts as well, such as pointing under each word, the differences between a letter and a word, and how to read from left to right and top to bottom. We are also working on studying pictures in our books and learning to think about what we are reading.
In math, we are learning how to count to 30 and how to count objects up to 20. We are exploring the calendar to see dates, days of the week, months, and the year. We are learning about attributes like shape, color, size, and thickness. Our class is also working on recording our answers after we do an activity.
